Jagroop Singh Khalsa

Jagroop Singh Khalsa is a public figure and grassroots leader from the Raikot constituency who has dedicated a significant part of his life to education, community service, Sikh heritage, social causes, youth development, and Panthic issues.

He currently serves as Karajakari Committee Member and Halqa Incharge of Raikot for Akali Dal Waris Punjab De. His journey into public life has been shaped by personal struggles, education, professional experience, community involvement, and a deep connection with Sikh history and principles.

Education & Professional Journey

Jagroop Singh received his early education in Mullanpur, followed by graduation from SCD Government College, Ludhiana. He completed his B.Ed. from Guru Nanak Education College, Gopalpur.

He began his professional journey as a teacher at Guru Nanak Public School, Mullanpur. Alongside teaching, he continued his higher education and completed his M.A. in Punjabi.

He later worked with HDFC Bank for approximately five years, while continuing his studies and completing an M.A. in Political Science and M.Sc. in Information Technology.

Following his banking career, he spent another approximately five years working with multinational and international companies, gaining valuable professional and organizational experience.

A Journey Built Through Challenges

Jagroop Singh’s personal journey has been marked by resilience and responsibility. Just one week before his +2 final examinations, he lost his mother. Despite the difficult circumstances and the responsibilities that came upon the family, he remained determined and completed his education.

He also pursued his family’s legitimate employment rights following his mother’s passing and submitted an application to the Education Department in Chandigarh while continuing his studies.

These experiences strengthened his belief in hard work, perseverance, responsibility and standing with people during difficult times.

Community & Social Service

Even during periods of professional transition, Jagroop Singh remained actively connected with his village and community. His involvement included:

Supporting village sports clubs and organizing cricket tournaments.
Helping establish and develop gym and sports facilities.
Participating in village development initiatives.
Supporting the management and activities of Gurdwaras.
Organizing and participating in religious and social programmes.
Encouraging young people to participate in sports and constructive activities.
Supporting community cleanliness and other social initiatives.

His approach to public service has consistently focused on community participation, youth development and social responsibility.

Connection with Sikh Heritage & Panthic Issues

Coming from a family environment where Gurbani, Sikh history, religious learning and cultural values were deeply respected, Jagroop Singh developed an early interest in Sikh heritage and the principles associated with Khalsa Raj, justice, equality and community service.

He has regularly participated in religious gatherings, Panthic programmes and social movements. He was present at various programmes concerning issues important to the Sikh community, including the Bargari and Behbal Kalan matters, as well as other Panthic gatherings and protests.

He also participated in the Bandi Singhs’ release movement and the farmers’ movement, viewing these issues through the broader perspective of Punjab’s rights and identity.

Association with Deep Sidhu & Waris Punjab De

A significant phase of Jagroop Singh’s public journey began during the Sambhu Morcha, where he closely followed the speeches and arguments of Deep Sidhu, particularly on issues concerning Punjab, farmers and the rights of Punjab.

Inspired by the movement, Jagroop Singh travelled from Ludhiana with a large group of supporters to meet Deep Sidhu. Subsequently, he devoted considerable time to the movement, putting aside his personal and professional commitments and travelling from village to village to encourage people to participate.

When the farmers’ groups began moving towards Delhi on 26 November 2021, Jagroop Singh joined the movement and remained actively involved during the prolonged Delhi farmers’ protest.

After returning to Punjab, he continued participating in meetings and activities associated with Waris Punjab De.

Although his family’s background was not directly connected with farming, Jagroop Singh actively participated in the farmers’ movement because he viewed it as a broader struggle connected with Punjab’s identity, rights, dignity and future.

Efforts to Bring the Organisation Together

Following the passing of Deep Sidhu, Jagroop Singh remained connected with Deep Sidhu’s family and associates. During a period when different groups associated with Waris Punjab De had emerged, Jagroop Singh, along with Amandeep Singh and Gurdeep Singh Issewal, worked towards bringing people together on a common platform.

They held discussions with Bhai Amritpal Singh Khalsa and Mandeep Singh Sidhu and contributed to efforts aimed at strengthening unity among those associated with the movement.

During Deep Sidhu’s first death anniversary programme at Budh Singh Wala, efforts were made to bring Mandeep Singh Sidhu and Bhai Amritpal Singh Khalsa together on the same stage. Jagroop Singh was among those involved in facilitating dialogue and coordination.

Later, following efforts by Mandeep Singh Sidhu and others, the second death anniversary of Deep Sidhu became another important occasion where the idea of bringing the organisation together under one leadership was publicly emphasized.

Jagroop Singh also played a role in efforts connected with establishing a memorial for Deep Sidhu at Chunkiman and bringing different sections together to commemorate his legacy.

Leadership & Political Responsibility

Recognising his years of grassroots involvement, organizational experience, education and commitment to public causes, Jagroop Singh was selected as a member of the 15-member Karajakari Committee Committee of Akali Dal Waris Punjab De.

He was subsequently appointed Halqa Incharge of Raikot, taking on greater responsibility for organizational activities and public outreach in the constituency.

His political approach is rooted in grassroots engagement, public interaction, youth involvement, community development and service.

He has also received the blessings and encouragement of Sant Baba Sewa Singh Ji of Rampur Khera, which he considers an important part of his spiritual and community journey.

Influences & Sikh Values

Jagroop Singh’s outlook has been influenced strongly by Sikh religious and historical literature. The teachings and speeches associated with Sant Jarnail Singh Ji Bhindranwale had a significant influence on him from his youth, and he continues to study and listen to Sikh historical and religious discourse.

He has also participated in programmes connected with important Panthic personalities and events, including the bhog of Mata Pritam Kaur Ji at Rode, where he had the opportunity to meet respected Panthic personalities and individuals associated with Sikh struggles.

His association with Sikh literature and community service also took him to places such as Sultanwind, where he supported educational activities by helping arrange food supplies and other necessities for students and bringing young people along to participate in community initiatives.

Family Values & Early Influences

Jagroop Singh’s parents were both associated with government service and also participated in Nishkam Kirtan Seva. His mother, after completing her school duties, would continue teaching children at home.

This environment of education, discipline, Gurbani, seva and community responsibility played an important role in shaping his personality and outlook.

From his early years, he remained involved in village activities such as cleanliness drives, religious programmes, community gatherings and visits to Takht Sri Damdama Sahib, while maintaining an active connection with Sikh cultural and social traditions.

His journey reflects a combination of education, professional experience, personal resilience, religious upbringing, grassroots service and public activism.

Today, as Karajakari Committee Member and Halqa Incharge of Raikot, Akali Dal Waris Punjab De, Jagroop Singh Khalsa continues to work towards strengthening grassroots connections, engaging with the people of Raikot, supporting youth and community initiatives, and contributing to issues concerning Punjab, the Sikh community and public welfare.
